At the turn of the last century, the Meridian Brass Quintet enjoys a sterling reputation in Indianapolis, Indiana. However, when second trumpet player, Frank Conner, volunteers the quintet to perform Christmas songs at the state mental hospital, the group is chagrined to play for the patients. But no one is more surprised at this audience’s response than the quintet’s leader, Arthur White.
